Drinks giant Diageo is expected to report an increase in full-year sales and profits on Thursday (27 August).

Analysts predicting Diageo, whose brands include Johnnie Walker, Guinness and Baileys, will post pre-tax profits of £2.3bn for the 12 months to 30 June, up from £2bn last year.

Sales are expected to increase to £9.3bn from £8bn the year before, despite the economic downturn.

An update is also expected on the company’s controversial decision to close its Johnnie Walker production sites in Kilmarnock and Port Dundas in Glasgow, affecting 900 jobs.
