Drinks group Diageo has said that it will beat its annual sales targets by 6% this year.

In a trading statement, the company added that it also expected operating profit to increase by 7%.

Paul Walsh, chief executive of Diageo, said: “The second half of the financial year has seen continued strong growth by the global priority brands, in particular Johnnie Walker and Smirnoff. As the year closes we have successfully delivered on our objectives.”
