Calling all retailers, symbol groups and wholesalers - time is running out for entries for the first-ever The Grocer Gold Awards.
Launched to recognise business excellence in the industry, the awards comprise eight categories of which four are open to entries. The other four will be decided on the basis of exclusive research carried out for The Grocer.
Of the self-entry categories, Best Independent Retail Chain 2003 is open to companies featuring in The Grocer Top 50 ranking. The judging panel is drawn from impartial experts from outside the food and drink industry who will be looking for evidence of sales growth, implementation of strategy, innovation and staff development.
The Best Own Label Range category is open to retailers or wholesalers, and the judges will be seeking an explanation of the range, the rationale for launch/ relaunch, how the concept was developed and brought to market, execution, and impact on the category.
The Marketing Excellence and Best Initiative awards are open to supermarket multiples, symbol groups, independent retail chains and wholesalers. The former covers areas such as customer communication, use of advertising media and store formats while any new idea, process or technological advancement in the past 12 months is eligible for the latter, including supply chain, purchasing, HR and customer facing technology.
The awards will be presented at an exclusive business dinner at Claridge's on June 11. Places will be strictly limited. For more details please contact Nicola Smith on 01293 610427 or e-mail nicola.smith@william-reed.co.uk
