Excessive indulgence is something the British public does well during the festive season, if sales and statistics are anything to go by.

Taylor Nelson Sofres notes that sales of indigestion remedies rose 58% during last December and hangover remedies more than doubled to 123%.

Then in the New Year there was a massive 194% uplift in sales of Slim Fast replacement meal products and a 10% increase in sweetner products. And the market for nicotine replacement products doubled to £16.8m.
