Global retailer Ahold’s Argentine supermarket chain Disco has requested a delay in releasing its fourth quarter results so that it can revise its accounts.

The move follows an accounting scandal at Ahold and reports of irregularities at the Argentine supermarket chain.

Disco has asked to postpone the release of the results until May 12 to carry out a revision of the figures ordered by its new board.

Last month, Ahold revealed that earnings at its US Foodservice unit had been inflated by at least $500m over the last two years due to wrongful accounting of discounts from its suppliers.
