The Department of Health has designated Friday, September 30 Stir FryDay, in an attempt to get people to eat more vegetables.
Cooking demonstrations, tasting sessions and recipe competitions will be staged in schools, supermarkets, restaurants and work places.
Stir FryDay recipe cards, stickers and information packs will be distributed nationally.
The message to be promoted is that stir fries are quick, tasty, affordable, versatile and fun.
They will be recommended as a step towards ensuring people achieve the 5-a-day target for fruit and veg. Resource packs will be available from www.5aday.nhs.uk.
