Domino’s Pizza has enjoyed a strong start to 2010, as the boom in delivered pizza continues following the recession.

The company said like-for-like sales were up 10.5% in the first three months of the year, with overall sales up 17.5% following the addition of eight new stores.

The pizza chain plans to open a total of 55 new outlets this year, while its new production facility at West Ashland is on course for completion by the end of the second quarter.

Chris Moore chief executive hailed the company’s resilient performance following the severe weather earlier this year, which caused many stores to suspend deliveries.

“We face some incredibly tough comparatives in the second half of the year but we have the people, the product, and the plans to continue to deliver excellent results in the coming months,” he said.
