IGD says a row between the industry's biggest players over the data provided for its weekly retail sales figures, (The Grocer, Sept 1) will be resolved within "a matter of weeks". Problems with the figures collated for the industry by IGD first came to light at the end of the summer. There were concerns that some retailers were double-counting bogofs in their returns to IGD as well as a dispute over what should and should not be included. The Grocer understands that Somerfield was the last to agree to stop double counting bogofs  although last week it told the City this practice would now end. An IGD spokeswoman could not comment on specifics. But she said: "All the issues have either been resolved or are in the process of being resolved." Retailers will no doubt welcome the news although one executive said the IGD had been saying this since September. The integrity of the figures is crucially important to retailers as they are used to benchmark like-for-like performance. {{NEWS }}
