Scots drinks company macb has ended its sponsorship of Heart of Midlothian FC.
The move comes amid growing controversy over Hearts’ decision to retain player Craig Thomson, who was last week placed on the sex offenders register after admitting ‘grooming’ two youngsters over the internet.
“As a company with strong family values, we are left with no choice but to terminate our relationship with Hearts,” macb said in a statement.
“Along with countless others, fans and co-sponsors alike, we are extremely disappointed with the club's handling of this situation and as a result can no longer continue our support.”
Hearts declined to comment on the sponsorship but has pointed to “mitigating circumstances” behind its decision not to sack Thomson.
