Belgian brewing company Interbrew believes only three main players will remain in the worldwide sector after massive consolidation  and it is concentrating on developing five key geographic zones in order to be among them. Interbrew ceo Hugo Powell, who recently announced the company's flotation, said his list of development areas did not include western Europe. "We want to develop in the US, east and central Europe and Asia," he said. "In the future there will be three main players and we want to be one of them." He also wants to buy companies in Russia and the Ukraine as well as explore opportunities in Asia and South America. "Now we are also in South Korea and, more modestly, in China, which gives us a good platform for the Thai and Malaysian markets, which are interesting," he added. {{NEWS }}
