Condom to foot-care manufacturer SSL International has reported a 20.3% increase in full-year sales, boosted by a strong performance from its Durex condom brand.

Durex sales rose 7.3% to £266.9m in the year to 31 March, while sales of the Durex Play division, which include lubricants and vibrators, rose 17.7%.

Sales of its Scholl footcare brand also rose 11.4% to £143m during the period, driven by the performance of new products including Scholl Perfect Nail and Scholl Biomechanics.

Group pre-tax profits jumped 34.3% to £55.5m on group sales up 20.3% to £642.4m.

“By driving growth in our core brands Durex and Scholl, through the introduction of innovative products and effective marketing, we believe we are well placed to continue to exploit opportunities in all of our markets,” said chief executive Garry Watts.
