Shopper numbers over the Easter period fell an estimated 5% year-on-year, data has revealed.

Retail consultancy Footfall found that shopper numbers on Good Friday fell 4.3% year-on-year and 3.3% year-on-year on Saturday.

A spokeswoman for Footfall said that the figures were in line with the British Retail Consortium's data released last week which found that retail sales increased just 1.6% last month.
