The ornamental horticulture industry has warned that EU pesticide proposals could be as damaging for its sector as they could be for food. The proposals to outlaw a range of crop protection products would have a major impact on gardeners, horticulturalists and retailers selling to the garden market, said the Horticultural Trades Association.

HTA business development director Tim Briercliffe said the ammendments would be “devastating”, effectively removing herbicide options for weed control in ornamental plants.
