Specialist chilled foods manufacturer Geest is flying its Pizza Express range of pizzas to Hong Kong. The company, which predominantly deals in producing own-label ranges for major British retailers, revealed it was sending the premium range on 13-hour flights to Park 'n' Shop, the island's biggest grocer. The chain's bosses are understood to have asked about the possibility of receiving consignments for retail after the first Pizza Express restaurant opened there shortly before Christmas. Geest started making copies of the chain's popular restaurant pizzas under licence in the UK last year and supplies Sainsbury's stores. Alan Smith, group marketing manager at Geest, said: "Park 'n' Shop contacted Pizza Express and said they wanted them for retail and we were happy to look into it. "The brand is popular because lots of Hong Kong residents have seen it and tried it on their travels." Smith refused to reveal the volume of business to Hong Kong but said Geest was currently supplying 12 Park 'n' Shop stores on the island. Twelve-inch versions retail at nearly £7 each. {{NEWS }}
