British farmers’ markets have celebrated their fifth birthday boasting a combined annual turnover of more than £160m.
The markets provide local food to local people first started in Bath in 1997. There are now around 450 regularly held farmers’ markets around the UK.
A recent business survey published by the National Farmers’ Union found that over 70% of farmers’ markets describe themselves as thriving with a combined annual turnover of £166.3m.
