The Join the Activaters programme targets children aged seven to nine, and focuses on four key messages: always eat breakfast, don't be a dolittle, aim for five fruit and vegetables a day, and be active. Materials distributed to more than 25,000 schools this week help teachers incorporate these messsages into literacy, numeracy, science and geography lessons.
The FDF's foodfitness director Karen Barber said: "The UK food and drink manufacturing industry takes the dietary needs and health of all its consumers, in particular children, very seriously.
"Join the Activaters is based on sound science and developed from current research on healthy eating and physical activity."
