Retailers are being warned to be wary if they are offered olive oil from any unusual sources after a 40ft container holding about £50,000 of olive oil bottles was stolen from Felixstowe Docks.
Henry Amar, director of distributor RH Amar, said the load of 750ml bottles of Filippo Berio pure olive oil had arrived from Italy and was found to be missing from the docks on Monday evening. He said police were keeping an open mind on whether the container had been stolen at random or whether it had been targeted.
If anyone has any suspicions about any product offered they can check it with RH Amar operations director Tim Brady on 01494 530200.
