Finsbury Food Group has revealed a boost in overall revenues of 6% for the past six months.

Sales in the bread and free-from division made up the majority of growth, up 14.5% in the half-year to 1 January. Cake sales edged up 3.2% over the period.

Finsbury also warned that the German egg dioxin scare would have an impacted on its performance in the second half of its financial year. Despite the eggs being safe for consumption, Finsbury cakes were removed from shelves by retailers.

Finsbury is currently in talks with its insurers over who will foot the bill for the withdrawal costs.
