Drinks company Firefly has enlisted the services of Chinese herbal experts for its new range of herbal juice-based offerings. Already in Harvey Nichols stores, the four drinks, which aim to provide a boost for different times of day, are rolling out to London delis and health food stores at the end of the month.

A Wake Up variant targets early morning users and combines grapefruit with ginger, cinnamon and ginseng, while peach, green tea, ginger and gentian blend No Siesta is said to keep energy levels up after a meal. Sharpen Up is formulated with apple, ginkgo biloba and liquorice to provide a ‘mind-invigorating drink’, while autumn berry, ginger and lavender flavour Chill Out is aimed at relaxation.

Firefly founders Marcus Waley-Cohen and Harry Briggs set out to create products without artificial stimulants. “What was on offer either contained more chemicals than a plastics factory or gave us the unpleasant feeling that it should have been served by Mary Poppins with a spoonful of sugar,” said Briggs.
