An organic operator has invested more than £1.2m in a bid to improve efficiency.

Root vegetable producer RB Organics has installed a state-of-the-art washline at its plant in Yaxley.

The new equipment can wash, de-stone and grade twenty tonnes of organic carrots and eight tonnes of organic parsnips in one hour, the company said.

Dennis Bean, operations director, said: “We are constantly looking for ways to remain at the forefront of technology and innovation and believe the washline to be the most advanced organic facility in the country.

“It should give us competitive advantage in terms of product quality, cost per unit and closer grading parameters.”
