The world's top 25 food companies are not doing enough to tackle obesity and other health-related issues, researchers have said.

Researchers from City University, London, audited the top 10 food manufacturers, top 10 food retailers and top 5 foodservice companies and found that they were doing little to combat fat, sugar and salt levels.

Tim Lang, one of the authors of the report, said: “Their performance is by and large pathetic. There is a pretty poor overall picture, with too many companies appearing not to care.”
