Car care firm Brown Bros has launched a distribution system to supply retailers with fast moving car care products, films, batteries and condoms from a fleet of "mobile retail centres". Stocked with racks of air fresheners, car shampoos and sunglasses, the 50 strong fleet of Reds (Retail Express Distribution Services) vans will work to "eliminate out of stocks on a category offering extremely attractive margins" said Brown Bros retail marketing manager Mike Metcalfe. "More than ever, retail outlets require a consistently high level of service, rapid order fill of key lines, and promotional support. Reds enables us to meet that need." The company has invested £3.5m in the service. Although Brown Bros has traditionally supplied forecourts, including those at Sainsbury and Somerfield, the Reds service is available to any retail outlet, he added. {{NEWS }}
