Controversial former Cadbury boss Todd Stitzer could be set for a senior role with US confectioner Hershey.

Stitzer is reportedly in talks with Hershey about taking over as chief executive, although he may settle for a seat on the company’s board. If Stizter lands the top job he would succeed David West, who last month announced a surprise switch to Del Monte.

Stitzer left Cadbury last year in the wake of its controversial sale to Kraft Foods. In March he described himself as feeling “sad and frustrated” by the deal.

“I feel only the hollow sense of a great company lost,” he told The Times.
