The Food Standards Agency has appointed John Harwood as interim chief executive.
Harwood, who was most recently interim chief executive of Cumbria County Council, takes up his new role at the end of this month until a permanent CEO is found. He replaces Jon Bell who announced in December that he was leaving the agency after six years.
The FSA said that Harwood had extensive experience of leading and managing public bodies. He established and led the Learning and Skills Council for England and was chief of the London Borough of Lewisham and Oxfordshire County Council.
