The Food Standards Agency is to expand the range of advice available on its website following a recommendation by the Cabinet Office's Food Matters report.

The report recommended the government should do more to "join up" its advice to consumers on food. As part of this, the FSA should "provide a one-stop-shop to consumers looking for information and advice on nutrition, food and sustainability, and food safety", as well as extend its remit to cover food eaten out of the home, the report stated.

FSA CEO Tim Smith said the agency had carried out much of the work already.
