Grocery charity Caravan notched up record fundraising income of £3.3m last year.

The figure, boosted by events such as the Diamond Ball and Sporting Heroes Luncheon, meant the charity’s spend on welfare support also hit an all-time high of £2.4m in the year to 31 March.

Caravan supported more than 2,100 past and current industry employees from factory to store in the past year, and a further 1,400 people via its welfare helpline.
