Days before the FSA unveils the results of its study into nutrition labelling, research has found high support for GDA labels throughout the EU.

The first stage of the FLABEL (Food Labelling to Advance Better Education for Life) project found GDAs were the most prevalent front-of-pack information throughout member states and appear on 25% of products, ranging from 2% in Turkey to 63% in the UK.

"The results show high penetration for a system that has been developed on a voluntary basis in the UK," said Julian Hunt, director of communications at the Food and Drink Federation.

"Our experiences are clearly encouraging other countries to introduce GDA information on packs."

The FSA research is expected to show public support for its traffic light system when the results are unveiled on Wednesday.
