on, Patricia! Industry leaders are losing patience at the length of time it is taking for the secretary of state for trade and industry Patricia Hewitt to consider the draft code of practice. After a two-year investigation, work began on the code in November and after several revisions the document was handed over by the Office of Fair Trading in May. NFU president Ben Gill said it was "taking a ridiculous length of time" to approve the document. A rumour circulating at the Labour Party conference suggested the delay was because the OFT had received new complaints from suppliers about bullying by retailers, but the OFT denied this. {{NEWS }}
