The Scottish Shellfish Marketing Group has appointed Donny Gillies as its new MD.
Gillies, who joined the group in May this year as sales and marketing director, replaces Ron Ferguson who joined as chief executive on a short-term contract earlier this year to reorganise the group and put in place a team for expansion.
SSMG said that since Gillies joined the group, he had helped increase turnover by 20%. He was previously sales director for William Sword where he was responsible for developing sales and strategy of pies and pastries. He has also worked at Bell Bakers, David A Hall, Enterprise Foods and Adam Cunningham.
Gillies said: “Demand for Scottish mussels, scallops and oysters has never been stronger. I am looking forward to driving ahead the remarkable growth that we have experienced in the last year.”
