Stewart Gilliland, former sales and marketing director of Interbrew's UK operations, has replaced Miles Templeman as managing director. Gilliland went to Interbrew from Whitbread's brewing arm which it bought out last year. He had been a driving force behind Whitbread's customer focus strategy. Hugo Powell, chief executive officer of Interbrew, said: "The company has been growing its market share in the take home sector, while its position in the difficult on-trade market is stable. Under the leadership of Stewart Gilliland, Interbrew UK will continue its strategy, with even greater focus and pace." Templeman, who also used to work at Whitbread, resigned last week saying the British operation was not given sufficient autonomy by its Belgian parent. He will continue to advise Interbrew as an external consultant. {{PEOPLE MOVES }}
