VK owner Global Brands is setting out its stall to become a major premium drinks supplier, following its acquisition of premium drinks agency Inspirit Brands.

Global, which has a turnover of £70m, bought Inspirit for an undisclosed sum this week, acquiring 14 brands including Mexican beer Bohemia and Aussie rum Bundaberg. Although Inspirit's portfolio is on-trade focused, Global plans to expand its off-trade presence.

"This is about Global Brands being recognised as one of the major UK drinks companies," said MD Derek Mackey.
