Carotino, claimed to be the only cholesterol free cooking oil, is now available in the UK. The oil differs from the one launched by Global Palm Products of Malaysia (The Grocer, June 20, p66) in that it is a blend of canola and palm oil. Carotino is rich in carotenes (natural vitamin A), natural vitamin E and co-enzyme Q10. It is refined without the use of chemicals or solvents and in a way that retains its vitamin content. The oil is accredited by the National Heart Foundation of Australia and is endorsed and under the permanent control of the Swiss Vitamin Institute. It can be used for cooking or on salads.
