The government is taking another look at controversial planning rules designed to curtail out of town developments and encourage retailers back into town centres. The Department of Transport, Local Government and the Regions has commissioned commercial property consultancy CB Hillier Parker to conduct a review of PPG6's effectiveness. It will report in the spring. "PPG6 has been running for five years and a review is urgently required," said a DTLR spokesman. However, retailers should not expect the recommendation of wholesale changes, he stressed: "There are no proposals to change the basis of the policy." {{NEWS }}
