The Ministry of Cake, based in Taunton, Somerset, makes frozen cakes, cheesecakes and pastries for the foodservice sector. It reported a turnover of £16m for 2007.
Danone's water facility in Blaen Twyni, produces natural and
flavoured spring waters from the Twyni spring in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Greencore already has a mineral water business in Lennoxtown, Scotland.
The acquisitions would strengthen the group's positions in the foodservice and convenience sectors, said Patrick Coveney, who this week was named as the successor to CEO David Dilger when he steps down from the role in March.
“These are strategic acquisitions which will assist in the diversification of our business,” Coveney added. “The Ministry of Cake enhances our growing presence in the foodservice sector and the Blaen Twyni facility is a valuable addition to our thriving water business.”
