The Grocer Gold Awards 2009 – which aims to identify the cream of the crop in the grocery industry – are now open for entries.

The scheme, sponsored by Reach and emarket.com, recognises excellence in service, initiative and commitment.

Three new award categories have been added this year - Specialist Wholesaler of the Year, Discounter of the Year and Exporter of the Year.

Other award categories open for entries include The Grocer of the Year, Wholesaler of the Year, Independent Retailer of the Year and Business Initiative of the Year.

Further awards including The Grocer 33 price, availability and customer service awards, as well as Britain¹s Favourite Supermarket are judged based on research by The Grocer and in association with Nielsen.
