The number of business insolvencies has dropped to its lowest point since the start of 2010, new data shows.
But in food retailing, the number of insolvencies almost doubled from May 2009 to May this year, the latest Insolvency Index from Experian reports.
In May 2009, 10 food retailers went into insolvency – a figure that rose to 19 in May this year.
Non-food retailing saw a strong recovery, with 124 solvencies in May 2009 compared to 80 in May 2010.
Overall, business insolvencies fell by 18% from April to May this year.
