The awards are organised by the Royal Highland & Agricultural Society of Scotland and Scottish Food & Drink in association with Scottish Enterprise. Other major sponsors include The Grocer, Scottish Development International and the Scottish Executive’s Healthy Living Campaign.
With the latter encouraging more healthy eating by Scottish consumers, food and drink products which reflect that policy will compete for the first time for a special category award.
The increasing importance of foodservice
products means there are four awards up for grabs. There are also seven categories for retail products, two for export products, a children’s product section and an award for best direct marketing development. There is also an overall supreme award, won last year by Scotbeef with its mini-burger package for children. The awards are open to all Scottish food and drink firms whose products are wholly or mainly produced, processed and packaged in Scotland.
The winners will be announced at an awards dinner at Stirling Castle on the evening of May 12. All winners will be presented with a certificate and silver medal and a £100 towards the cost of exhibiting at the Royal Highland Show in June. For details call Nancy Campbell on 0131 335 6207.
