Premium pie and quiche producer Higgidy is investing £2m in doubling the size of its production facility.
The company has this week taken over two neighbouring units at its site in Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex, which will allow it to increase its production space to 25,000 sq ft.
It plans to expand into the new units in May following the installation of new plant and construction work linking its four buildings.
Higgidy, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year, is currently turning over £12.4m - up from £5.6m three years ago - and hopes to take this to £25m in the next four years.
“We’ve focused the past six months on preparing ourselves for further growth by investing in new business systems, increasing our marketing resource and strengthening our management team,” said James Footitt, who founded the business with his wife Camilla.
The company said it had been driving incremental growth in the pie category by bringing “younger, more affluent, consumers into a sector that traditionally had been dominated by lower-value products”.
