Meat packer Hilton Food Group has posted an upbeat trading update, boosted by what it called “encouraging sales trends” in Western Europe.

The company, which supplies meat lines to Tesco, said trading since 18 July had been in line with market expectations and its financial position remained “strong”.

Hilton delivered strong volume growth in Holland during the period, while the market in Sweden was showing signs of recovery, it said.

In Denmark, was on track to start production to supply Coop Danmark during the second quarter of 2011.

“Overall, we are encouraged by our continued progress this year,” the company said.
