Retail meat packer Hilton Food Group said its third-quarter performance was in line with company expectations despite the challenging economic conditions in many of its key markets.

In its latest trading statement, the company said it had made “good progress” in Western European markets in the past three months.

It pointed to an improved performance in Eastern Europe as well as solid sales in Sweden, Holland and Ireland.

“Overall, we are encouraged by Hilton’s progress this year,” the company said. “The group will continue to explore opportunities to grow the business in both domestic and overseas markets.”
