Bells Stores' fledgling home delivery service Bells Direct could easily chalk up annual sales of £1m simply by expanding its current activities across five local authorities in the north east, said home shopping development director Steve Brown. Addressing suppliers at the Institute of Physics in London on Tuesday, Brown said home delivery was already notching up weekly sales of £4,350 after four months. The service in partnership with Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council works via a three-strong fleet of multi-temperature vans delivering to local businesses, day centres and elderly and infirm residents. It will be available online in July. The last 18 months has been a "sharp learning curve for us" said Brown. Store picking has been axed in favour of a warehouse based system - Bells Stores has rebranded itself as www.bellsstores.com to reflect its multichannel strategy. {{NEWS }}
