Money for a decisive new organic action plan will be forthcoming from the government, according to the head of DEFRA's organic farming strategy unit John Parkin. He told the Food and Drink Federation's Organic Liaison Group this week that the political climate had never been more favourable towards the organics sector. Parkin said: "We need action to be taken right away, rather than a litany of recommendations. Getting money out of the Treasury is a process of negotiation, but there is strong support from Number 10 for food and farming." Parkin is a member of Organic Action Plan which is due to report to the government in July on developing UK food and organic farming. {{NEWS }}
