South West Food and Drink has recruited Richard Hunter as md to drive the promotion of regional food and drink across south-west England.
Hunter has more than 20 years' experience of the food industry. He has worked in a sales and marketing capacity for large and small companies in the meat, seafood and fmcg sectors, supplying retail, foodservice and export markets. He was previously sales and marketing director of Goldstar Meats and held a similar role at Lyons Seafoods before that.
Hunter's appointment takes effect from January 1. He said: "I am very excited at the opportunity to be in at the beginning of this new organisation.
"We will be working very closely with Taste of The West and Meat South West which have already done a great job in developing markets for locally produced products."
SWFD is funded by the regional development agency.
