Swedish supermarket chain ICA Ahold - which is 50% owned by Ahold - has seen its profit rise and said it was unaffected by the accounting scandal at the troubled Dutch group .

For the year to December 31 pre-tax profit rose to SKr2.41bn from SKr1.91bn in 2001 on turnover which climbed to SKr70.9bn from SKr65bn last year.

ICA Ahold is one of the assets that retail analysts believe Ahold may sell as it struggles to reduce its debt burden of more than 12bn euros.
