R&R Ice Cream has topped The Sunday Times' latest Profit Track 100.

The annual list ranks Britain's 100 privately owned companies with the fastest-growing profits over a three-year period.

R&R was formed in 2006 when owner Oaktree Capital Management merged Richmond Ice Cream with European manufacturer Roncadin.

Its profits grew from £1.5m in 2006 to £43.4m in 2009. The group is aiming for sales of £500m in the current year, up from £368m in 2009.

Egg producer Fridays was placed 10th on the list, one place ahead of discount retailer B&M Retail.

Other fmcg companies in the rankings were Crisp Malting Group, salad supplier G's, dairy producer Meadow Foods and drinks wholesaler Cellar Trends.

Poundland ranked 37th, while Tangerine Confectionery was ranked 88th.

All companies in the list grew their profits by at least 42% over the three-year period.
