With e-business starting to make an impact on grocery retailing, IFE is featuring its first section devoted to this area. The 11 exhibitors include several web-based transaction companies, such as Meatingpoint, which specialises in the buying and selling of meat over the internet. Users can choose to trade via an open marketplace with any of the company's listed buyers and suppliers, or exclusively with a restricted list of traders. Meatingpoint's services include instant language translations to make international transactions easier, and European deliveries in partnership with Frigoscandia. The company estimates 3% of all European meat trading will be online within three years. Agribuys.com provides a similar service, enabling users to globally procure a wide range of produce, such as seafood, meat, dairy, poultry and ingredients. Smallsupplier.com, set up eight months ago by IDC, will promote its web catalogue of independent food suppliers for whom it handles electronic invoicing and arranges deliveries, enabling them to deal on the same footing as major brands with national accounts. Business service providers will include CSB-System UK demonstrating its business management and shop floor software, and Online Computer Services which will be presenting SalesTalk, a new approach to telesales, and eSales24, a web-based sales order processing system. {{FOCUS SPECIALS }}
