Marks & Spencer is to provide funds for dairy farmers to help meet the potential Nitrogen Vulnerable Zones (NVZ) legislation. It will pay dairy farmers 28.9p per litre - the highest on the high street.
Imperial cuts jobs
Imperial Tobacco is to close its Bristol cigar factory and move production to Spain, losing 75 jobs. Production of exported cigarettes at its Nottingham factory will also move to Europe, losing 210 jobs.
Last week we incorrectly referred to Darren Shapland as the CFO of Asda in our story Asda Prices Go Global (p4). It was Darren Blackhurst, Asda's food trading director, who was involved in negotations. Shapland is CFO of Sainsbury's.
