An award-winning retail package is being offered as a franchise for independent retailers. Billy's Moonshine is the brainchild of two retailer brothers, Jimmy and Dave Dhaliwal and retail consultant Jim Roberts, and conversion of the first franchise store in Nottingham has begun. The trio developed the concept after working together on a store owned by the Dhaliwals which won the Bestway Retailer Awards, sponsored by The Grocer's sister publication C-Store. Roberts explained: "We are offering a total business development package which will give stores from 500sq ft up a specialised format based on convenience retailing." He said the Billy's Moonshine concept had been tested at the Dhaliwals' stores in Tamworth and Atherstone in Warwickshire, and a third store at Dorden was to open. Roberts said sales at the Nottingham store, which was extended from 475sq ft to 900sq ft, had exceeded projections even before the conversion was complete. {{NEWS }}
