The first franchise M&S Simply Food to be trialled by an independent retailer has been delayed by planning issues.

The development, at the Witchford Road Service Station in Ely, was due to open next month.

"We are still bottoming out some operational issues at present," said owner and Association of Convenience Stores vice chairman Jonathan James.

The store, chosen to trial the format last December, would be the first M&S Simply Food in a forecourt that is supplied but not owned by BP.
