Some of the biggest names in the UK drinks industry have promised to donate £15m to alcohol education charity Drinkaware.

Fifty companies, including the big four retailers and some of the biggest brewers, distillers and pub companies, have pledged to give the charity £5m a year for the next three years.

"Changing the UK drinking culture won't happen overnight but with alcohol misuse costing the NHS £2.7bn a year, it is essential that consumers are able to make informed decisions about their consumption," said Drinkaware chairman Derek Lewis."
